Told in the first person, this darkly humorous book is both amusing and sadly tragic.
Rose is a dementia patient at an aged-care home. She spends her time roaming the facility, observing daily activities. Nothing misses her sharp eyes, and her comments can be most amusing, ie “Power of Eternal” whilst meaning “power of attorney.” When her friend is discovered lying dead in the home’s courtyard, Rose takes it upon herself to find out the truth, with some amazing results.
I found this book a page-turner – especially once Rose’s snooping starts yielding results both in her own life and that of the patients in the home.
