A Woman in Sardinia, by Valeria Usala

Cover of A Woman in Sardinia, by Valeria Usala.

Based on a true story and translated into English. It is a story about 3 generations of women, with examples of violence against women and as the back reads, it takes us into the heart of rural Sardinia, where prejudices, superstitions and cruelty coexist with the joys and companionship of a tight knit community.

An interesting read. It is shocking the cruelty experienced by women who did not comply with the local rules. Sometimes it did not flow easily, which may have been due to the translation.
