Discover The Mini Storytime Way

The Storytime Way is an interactive outdoor storytime trail that gets the whole family reading together.

While the full Storytime Way is currently unavailable due to the current Dune Resilience Project construction along the Geographe foreshore, a mini version of the Storytime Way is still available.  Featured on panels no.13 to 20 in Longlands Park on Wilmott Street, Geographe, this mini version of the Storytime Way is short on length and big on fun!

Read, talk, sing, dance, and laugh the whole way as you stop at each panel to discover something new.

Walk or ride- it’s the perfect outdoor activity for families with young children.

Every few months the story will change! It’s an exciting way to connect to your local library.

Out and About with Barney the Barn Owl

Enjoy a mini version of our regular Storytime Way with our current title, Out and About with Barney the Barn Owl.  Created by Paint the Cape REaD.

Paint the Cape REaD is part of the Pain the Town REaD initiative, an Early Literacy Community Capacity Building Program aimed at educating parents, carers and the community about the importance of reading, singing, playing, drawing and talking with children every day from birth.

The aim of the program is to encourage all levels of the community to support the development of children’s early literacy skills from birth, so they are prepared for learning when they start school.

The mascot that looks like an owl in a cape is standing on the Busselton Jetty, arms out to its sides.

Each time you talk, read, sing, rhyme, tarn, draw and play with your child, new brain connections are formed and strengthened.

These daily activities lay the foundation for language development and communication skills to grow.

Literacy is a key success in life.  Research shows that foundational skills learned from ages 0-5 years are critical for developing literacy skills at school.
